Each Animal care program is unique and designed to encourage a caring and nurturing approach towards animals in our communities and in the wild.

Children observe the nature of Rabbits and Guinea Pigs and their individual personalities and preferences whilst learning the commitment to an animals well-being when caring for a pet.

Children learn the daily responsibilities of pet ownership and how to meet the needs of the animals including; maintaining a clean environment, providing an accurate amount of feed and socially interacting with the animals on a daily basis. The tasks can be time consuming but necessary for happy and healthy pets.

What We Deliver & Why

      • 2 young rabbits and 2 young guinea pigs (or just either rabbits or the guinea pigs), in a purpose-built hutch and care equipment for a clean, animal and child friendly environment.
      • A Pet Care Manual can be downloaded here for information on how to care for your pets.
      • We set up the enclosure with food, water and wood shavings and equip you with the knowledge to care for your pets.

Pet Care Program Objective: To introduce children to the basic health and nutritional requirements of a pet through animal management and animal feed. To help children learn to be responsible pet owners.

Responsible Pet Ownership
Responsible pet ownership means a commitment to meeting an animals needs.

In a quality Pet Care learning environment and through adult guidance, children learn valuable lessons on how to treat the Rabbits and Guinea Pigs responsibly, with respect and care.

What age group best suits the Pet Care Program

Preschool, Kindergarten, Child Care & Primary School Education from Foundation to Year 4. But! The information and interaction can be enjoyed by all ages.

 

Little kids (as well as the grownups!) love the chance to cuddle, feed and care for pets.

Please remember when you are planning your event we require:please_note

1. Close access to set-up area (no more than 30m distance from our vehicle)
2. Clear access from our vehicle to set-up area (no obstacles, stairs, lifts, steep slopes, etc)
3. For safety reasons we appreciate assistance in keeping curious onlookers at a safe distance until set-up is complete.
4. Access to water for the animals.
